Director of Maintenance

The Director of Maintenance is responsible to the Accountable Manager for all aircraft maintenance activities and regulatory compliance of work performed by Maintenance Department. His duties include but are not limited to:

1) Amendment and control of General Maintenance Manual.
2) Establishment and development of continuing airworthiness policy.
3) Ensuring defects, incident reports and other occurrences directly affecting airworthiness and safety are investigated and ensuring all corrective action is carried out in a timely manner.
4) Liaison with Finance Department on a range of issues from spares and equipment purchase justifications.
5) Ensuring the management of safety risks in maintenance operations.

As per the CAAT’s AC-AW-05-NOM, the Nominated Post Holder for Maintenance should be able to demonstrate:

1) Five years’ relevant work experience of which at least two years should be from the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position.
2) A relevant degree or an aircraft maintenance technician qualification with additional education acceptable to the CAAT.
3) Appropriate managerial experience including a working knowledge of aviation safety standards and the ability to manage in such an environment.
4) A thorough knowledge of AOCR requirements and the organizations continuing airworthiness management exposition.
5) Knowledge of the Airworthiness control procedures through the GMM.
6) Knowledge of Human Factors.
7) Knowledge of SMS.
8) Familiarity with the organization’s Quality System.
9) An understanding of the organization’s contracted and sub-contracted maintenance and technical/engineering Safety arrangements (contract content).
10) Appropriate technical knowledge of the type(s) operated.
